Our first grants
The Colin Project, an initiative of The Colin Wolf Foundation, dedicated to ending the crisis of homelessness in the youth LGBTQ+ community, announces a series of grants as a part of its inaugural annual giving campaign, "November 4 Ever".
Foundation leadership and its advisors are proud to announce giving two grants to like-minded and mission-aligned organizations working and making a real impact in the Nation's Capital.
The first grant goes to SMYAL (Supporting and Mentoring Youth Advocates and Leaders) supports and empowers lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth in the Washington, DC, metropolitan region. Through youth leadership, SMYAL creates opportunities for LGBTQ youth to build self-confidence, develop critical life skills, and engage their peers and community through service and advocacy. The second grant goes to Friendship Place, a leader in Washington, D.C., in developing solutions to homelessness that have measurable results and a lasting impact. Using innovative, customized, person-focused programs, Friendship Place empowers participants to rebuild their lives, find homes, get jobs, and reconnect with friends, family, and the community, permanently. The Foundation, founded on the passions and beliefs of Colin Wolf, who passed away on February 18, 2021, is framed by its mission to carry on Colin's love for community giving, compassionate care, and the values of diversity, equality, and inclusion.
